Many times in the past 11 years, we’ve talked about what it would be like to live in South America. Five months ago, we decided to find out. House packed up, tenants moved in, hugs and kisses to family and friends shared, we departed Berkeley and arrived to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on September 1, 2016, for the first stop of many destinations in our 10-month adventure.
Who are we? A family of five Dad, Mom and three kids (aged 9, 7, and 4 1/2) who saw the opportunity to try something different and wanted to give it a shot. We’re not deluded (though we might be a touch crazy)- we know it won’t be relaxing or easy to manage our loving horde on the road, but we still wanted to try, and we plan to share it all- the good, the bad and the ugly. (Hopefully, lots of good, and very little ugly).
We hope you enjoy reading about our trip, and our adventures in new languages, homeschooling, and parenting ‘on the road.’ We welcome your suggestions for anywhere we’re staying or visiting soon. Wish us luck! (We may need some)
